This past spring, the European Union made history by banning trade in seal products. Now we Europeans hold within our grasp the power to shut down Canada's cruel slaughter of baby seals forever! Take the pledge to boycott Canadian seafood.

Canada's seal hunters are commercial fishermen who earn, on average, only a tiny fraction of their annual incomes from killing seals. Catching seafood is how they really make their money. Each year, the European Union buys hundreds of millions of euros of seafood from Canadian fishermen, many of whom are sealers.

By choosing not to purchase Canadian seafood, we can use our power as consumers to send a strong message to sealers, the fishing industry, and Canada's government that the seal hunt must end.

Appealing to their consciences hasn't worked, so we have to give them an economic choice: This week we're launching the ProtectSeals boycott of Canadian Seafood in Europe!

Please join us and help bring an end, once and for all, to the brutal annual Canadian seal hunt -- the largest slaughter of marine mammals on the planet.

In 2005 our American partner, The Humane Society of the United States, launched a boycott of Canadian seafood in the United States. So far, more than 650,000 individuals and 5,500 businesses have signed the boycott pledge, costing Canada's fishing industry many times the value of the seal hunt.

Join us: Pledge now to boycott Canadian seafood -- don't buy while seals die.

And help us encourage chefs, restaurants and seafood companies to pledge to avoid selling Canadian seafood consumption. Together, we can stop the brutal Canadian seal slaughter forever.
